“It has one of the best private schools in the province, a high level of state schools, a university, and almost no illiteracy.”
Areco has one of the best and most highly regarded systems of
education. It has bilingual private schools with a high level
of academic and sports achievements. Additionally, there are a
large number of well-rated state schools per inhabitant, both
at the provincial and national levels.
Furthermore, Areco
is one of the few select provincial cities (and undoubtedly
the smallest) that has a national university. UNSADA
(Universidad Nacional de San Antonio de Areco) was established
in 2015 and its main mission is to become a reference centre
for the development of strategic scientific and technological
knowledge and the generation of innovation in the region.
“The socio-cultural profile of San Antonio de Areco is incredible. The diversity and culture present there are very interesting. It is the birthplace of some of the best artisans and goldsmiths in the country. Many visual artists, musicians and writers from Argentina have settled there.”
Every year in November, the Day of Tradition is celebrated with live music, dances, traditional food, a parade at Plaza Ruiz de Arellano and various activities at Parque Criollo. The bravest gauchos compete in the rodeo events known as "jineteadas," which are as dangerous as they are spectacular!
The variety of gastronomic venues in San Antonio de Areco has
experienced significant growth in recent years with
approximately 70 establishments offering a wide variety of
culinary options, ranging from classic establishments to more
sophisticated proposals. The renowned restaurant of Paula
Mendez Carrera stands out, along with other establishments
that delight diners with their gastronomic excellence.
